 Here was the problem: I needed to install 
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/wifidog/wifidog_1.1.3-1_mipsel.ipk from the 
Wifidog site, no Beta.    Kernel seemed OK, no errors.  Once I installed it, 
got it configured, it worked.  I am thrilled.  Now the hard part, getting it 
all set up just right :-)
 
 Here is what I have running OK
 X-WRT (Fun to use)
 Wifidog server
 Wifidog client on Buffalo Router (4 of them so far)
 OLSR Mesh networking, which is running great (Running on PC's with wireless 
and on the Buffalos')
 OLSR Web interface
 
 It's just too cool.  I want to build a wireless network in Glassboro, NJ.  
This should do it
