[isf-wifidog] wifidog architecture question

greetings,

my question is this, if i setup an auth server in my office, and i
setup hotspots with only modified linksys routers at other locations,
can the routers connect across the open internet (no vpn) back to the
auth server to show the splash screen and operate normally?  Or does
the auth server need to be in the same location as the hotspots?

I am hoping to centralize the management of about a 100 hotspots, but
i dont really see a document that i understand to show this scenario.
Or maybe its just so obvious i am missing it.
