Hi,

i could find open_basedir @ /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini
;open_basedir=

Well now as u say m1 and m2 are old ill stick to the svn version that i have
downloaded yesterday.

The svn version seems to have some problem using wget and downloading
packages and installing them as it could do in the previous version of
wifidog i have used.

I could resolve the Smarty error

only by a manual  download of smarty in to /tmp/  The same issue prevails
with  magpierss which i could ignore as i wont use it as of now.I have
mentioned the details  of this error below please do tell me  why is it
happening.Is it a bug or a system problem.

But even though i could move on and finish my installation i had no luck in
getting it to work and was shown the error:

" Redirecting to Wifidog web-based install script since Smarty is missing
(Error was: ) "

Seems it simply does not want to get along with me ;)

I am out of ideas what do i do?The problem is with Smarty but how do i
resolve it?

This is the error i get while downloading and install something using
wifidogs install.php
