Hey,

We've noticed it at some places, it's a silent bug.

The counters thread seems to hang, on a read(), it must be hanging on  
a read() while updating the counters on the auth server. Ran a  
strace, all the threads are doing something but that one.

It happened at my house. Basically the node stays up, the counters  
are never updated (so we don't know who logs in, etc.) The new people  
just create new entries in the mangle table, I don't know if they get  
access or if they're denied.

Mina will most likely add a timeout to the read() just so we can at  
least do something about it (flag, etc.)
