This is interesting, though seems to be overkill.
What is the purpose of exchanging node information? If this is in
reference to Wi-Fi Thank You (which I posted about but only received 2
responses about), I don't want to build something too complex. I would
rather build something that addresses the need to have a single
registration database, but share essential information in order to
provide a service through another site.
If this is in reference to an NYCwireless installation of WifiDog, I
think we need to first consider why there would be information sharing
at all. It seems to me that the most useful reason would be to share
user accounts. Beyond that, perhaps a shared display of online hotspots
would be useful. In the case of the sharing of user accounts, some sort
of remote authentication would be far preferable than synchronizing
account information.
Regardless, I would like to ask again about Wi-Fi Thank You... What kind
of integration would be appropriate and useful for enabling WifiDog to
utilze the Wi-Fi Thank You system? I can build a REST interface (with a
far simpler schema than the WirelessOntology one), but XML-RPC is easier
(I've built many XML-RPC services in the past) and you already require
XML-RPC in the WifiDog server.
