Well, i'm not sure anymore... anyway, I found an error in the network
script on the latest OpenWRT snapshot, and i'm wondering if it was the
same problem for phil's firmware...

in /etc/init.d/S45firewall:4
~  WAN=$(nvram get wan_ifname)
should read
~  WAN=$(nvram get wan_iface)


~From my first working setup (long before I played with openwrt):
wan_ifname=vlan1
wan_ifnames=vlan1
wan_iface=ppp0
