I just finished implementing reasonably smart code to upload a NoCat passwd
file to the wifidog auth server. If (as in our case) the usernames were
email adress, the auth server will take the prefix as username (taking _1,
_2, etc. if necessary to eliminate duplicates, of which there were 24 out of
the 862 imported users). The password hash are carried over, which means
every password still works! This should also greatly lower the barrier to
adoption for existing community groups.
The test server (currently at http://isfauth.coeus.ca/wifidog/) now has the
full user database (as of a few days ago). So as of now we could deploy test
wifidog installs without our users scratching their heads wondering why it
doesn't work.
Also to ease the transition, you can now login with either your username or
your email address.
Keep playing with it and send in your comments.
Good night,
